suprisingly yesterday i got 2 postcards from ren ... the last time i got poscard was months ago.
yg satu gambar

the movies please...

warren schmidt (jack nicholson) was retired from an insurance company. at first he felt strange having nothing to do at all . from a magazine's ad he became a foster parent for an african boy. then suddenly his wife died . after had awful life without his wife, he decided to travel across the states, visiting his past places. then he visited his daughter who was having a wedding. his daughter's new family was so different from the schmidts. but then he could accept them.

this is the movie where adrien brody got oscar this year. the story was slow. similar to schindler's list where they have the germans tried to get some jews to be tortured. the setting was also in poland. spielzman, a jewish pianist, lived in warsaw during the second world war. his family died one by one, but he was save because a german officer helped him after saw him played piano very well. watch this movie if you love chopin. it's everywhere!!!!

watched i am sam *again*

actually i there are some
more movies, but i don't really remember. i'll post them later.

by the way, i'm on
bet with someone, wish me luck!!!
i know i can do it. it's just
soooo hard....

blah...
my plane was
delayed because someone checked-in, put his luggage, then dissapeared. so the whole passegers had to wait for him *like no one else had important thing to do*. after waiting in vain, the crews decided to take out his luggage out of the airplane *because in can be some dangerous stuff *. i forgot to ask that guy's name. amrozy probably .

these little guys wanna say hi to all of you...

i was away for a couple days and my old guestbook is full. maybe you don't notice it, but i got another new guestbook!!!

sista is in bali, visited me in the office , but no one think that she's my sista. we don't look like each other very much . then we went shopping at surfergirl *i got blue pants *.

after weeks, at last i finished reading white teeth. a good book *once again, thx to darwin *. i desperately like it. but it's long, small font, and need a bit concentration to read it *i have problem with concentration *. it won some awards. so for those book's lovers , who have patient and concentration, i recommend to read it.

it's about
intercultural:
This has been the century of strangers, brown, yellow, and white. This has been the century of the great immigrant experiment. It is only this late in the day that you can walk into a playground and find Isaac Leung by the fish pond, Danny Rahman in the football cage, Quang O'Rouke bouncing basketball, and Irie Jones humming a tune.

Children with first and last name on a direct collision course. Names that secrete within them mass exodus, cramped boats and planes, cold arrivals, medical checkups. It is only this late in the day, and possibly only in Willesden, that you can find best friend Sita and Sharon, constantly mistaken for each other because Sita is white (her mother liked the name) and Sharon is Pakistani (her mother thought it best - less trouble). Yet, despite all the mixing up, despite the fact that we finally slipped into each other's lives with reasonable comfort (like a man returning to his lover's bed after a midnight walk), despite all this, it is still hard to admit that there is no more English than the Indian, no more Indian than the English. There are still young white men who are angry about that; who will roll out at closing time into the poorly lit streets with a kitchen knife wrapped in a tight fist.

about the
friendship between archie, an english who married a jamaican (clara) and samad iqbal *not this iqbal *, a bengali. they met in the second world war as soldiers, and became best friend. archie has a daugther, irie and samad has twin son: magid and millat. their children grew up together, then some complicated relationship among the people in the story came up. zadie smith wrote the story with funny language .

gara2 liat foto bendera di kbri di blognya slesta, gue jadi inget waktu gue ditugasin naekin bendera di upacara 17an di kbri *gue barusan nemu site-nya kbri ini di google, tapi standard banget & kayaknya jarang di update, jadi males gue link*. ceritanya gue udah tinggal di negara itu beberapa tahun, trus menjelang 17 agustus, gue ditelfon sama salah satu ibu2 kbri utk jadi ikutan berpartisipasi di upacara 17an. kenapa gue kepilih? yah soalnya di negara itu anak indonesianya emang gak banyak. lagian kan sebagian udah pernah, jadi mereka ngasi kesempatan buat yg blm pernah.

mulailah kita

tanggal 17 agustus *gue lupa tahunnya , yg pasti bukan tahun 1945*, pagi2 kita udah siap di halaman belakang kbri tempat diadain upacara. bokap gue udah bawa2 video kamera, nyokap gue, spt ibu2 indonesia lainnya pake kebaya. trus upacara dimulai. sama aja sih spt upacara2 di indonesia lainnnya. pas bagian naekin bendera emang rada2 ngaco . siapa lagi yg bikin kesalahan kalo bukan gue.

selesai upacara, ada acara
makan2. ini yg di-tunggu2 . soalnya kapan lagi bisa makan makanan indonesia tercinta. walaupun rasanya gak terlalu mirip sama yg asli di indonesia. trus ngobrol2, trus bosen....

met an old friend last night . when did we see each other for the last time? years ago!!
i always have this-kind-of-nice-feeling when i met someone
from the past & re-tell our old stories. she's leaving this morning and don't know when we'll see each other again .

some movies... *hi nis *
gue suka banget sama film i am sam . ngingetin dikit sama kramer vs kramer. tentang sam (sean penn) a waiter in starbuck, a beatles's big fan, and a retarded whose brain about the same as 7 years-old. he got a daughter named lucy *from lucy in the sky with diamons* that he loves so much. until on lucy's 7th birthday, lucy was taken away because they thought sam wasn't able to take care of lucy. it was very touchy when sam fought back.

you can see andy lau and sammi cheng in fat version in love on a diet. about a girl who became very fat until her boyfriend who hasn't seen her for years couldn't recognize her. then she tried hard to get her shape back with the help of another fat guy. but like usual, she turned out to like the fat guy *who lost weight later, of course* more than her boyfriend.

in sixth day, sometime in the future, people is getting better in clonning. it was illegal to clone human but ok for pets . but some bad guys did clonning for human. then the situation became confusing, who was the clone and who was the real human?

"Joyce! Ja-oyce! Joshua and his marijuana-smoking friends are here!"

Pulchritude. From the Latin,
pulcher, beautiful. That was the word that first struck Joyce when Millat Iqbal stepped forward onto the steps of her conservatory, sneering at Marcus's bad jokes, shading his violet eyes from a fading winter sun. Pulchritude: not just the concept but the whole physical word appeared before her as someone had type it onto her retina -
Pulchritude - beauty where you would least suspect it, hidden in a word that looked like it should signify a belch or a skin infection. Beauty in a tall young man who should have been indistinguishable to Joyce from those she regulary bought milk and bread from, gave her accounts to for infection, or passed her checkbook to behind the thick glass of a bank till.

neue staatsgalerie (new galery) 1984, was the extension of alte staatsgalerie (old galery) which was opened in 1843 as an art museum. the design was made by james stirling, michael wilford & associates, an architect bureau based in london.

stirling, a glasgow born architect, who won many prizes in 1970s, designed the staatsgalerie as a
representative monumental building like the 19th century's museum building type. the old
and new galery are connected by a "bridge".

the new galery's plan is u-shape with rotunda *kind of open space* in the center. what i like the most from the building is the contrast used of colors , materials (stone, glass, metal), and form. he even used the combination of historical and modern elements.

i was going to visit this building when i went to stuttgart, but it was monday and i was in stuttgart for only one day. like in most places in the world, galeries and museums are closed on monday!!

Around the beginning of this century, the Queen of Thailand was abroad a boat, floating along with many courtiers, manservants, maids, feet-bathers, and food-tasters, when suddenly the stern hit a wave and the queen was thrown overboard into the turquoise waters of the Nippon-Kai, where, despite her pleas for help, she drowned, for not one person on that boat went to her aid. Mysterious to the outside world, to the Thai the explanation was immediately clear: tradition demanded, as it does to this day, that no man or woman may touch the queen.

It is different for the people of Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan, formerly India, formerly Bengal. They live under the invisible finger of random disaster, of flood and cyclone, hurricane and mudslide. Half the time half their country lies under the water; generations wiped out as regularly as clockwork; individual life expectansy an optimistic fifty-two, and they are coolly aware that when you talk about apocalypse, when you talk about random death en masse, well, they are leading the way in that particular field, they will be the first to go, the first to slip Atlantis-like down to the seabed when the pesky polar icecaps begin to shift and melt. It is the most ridiculous country in the world, Bangladesh. It is God's idea of a really good wheeze, his stab at black comedy. You don't need to give out questionnaires to Bengalis. The facts of disaster are the facts of their lives. Between Alsana's sweet-sixteenth birthday (1971), for example and the year she stopped speaking directly to her husband (1985), more people died in Bangladesh, more people perished in the winds and the rain, than in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Dresden put together. A million people lost lives that they had learned to hold lightly in the first place.

yesterday was really ((( my day ))) , because:
had a nice phone call in the morning
many people sign my new guestbook
read a good book
another phone call from someone who hadn't call
for a long time
had a nice, cool, peace, quite environment in the office

a
big condolence to a friend of mine who had an awful, terrible, horrible, and nightmare day yesterday.

gue lagi males nulis2 tentang film nih *dzigh*. tapi sekitaran 2 minggu yg lalu gue nonton terminator 3. like you see from the title it's just the next sequel of terminator. there was still john connor who's much older *of course* with mission to save the world. you also still can find arnold schwarzeneger *gak ada matinya*. yah gitu deh. film action yg kayaknya masih bakal ada terusannya lagi. liat aja review-nya: Arnold Schwarzenegger returns in this third installment of the popular sci-fi action saga as a cyborg from the future once again becoming involved in the affairs of twentysomething John Connor and his first battles with the SkyNet machine network.

after all these months, at last i visited monsieur medecin. comme d'habitude i got some movies to borrow. one of them is pavilion of women. i watched it last weekend. dari bukunya pearl s. buck. i used to love reading pearl s. buck's books because most of the story about some west people in the east. so interesting. but this movie was just ok *they should have some better looking players*. about madame wu, a wife who looked for a second wife for her husband . then she had an affair with an american priest.

hungarian is the second hardest language in the world . some words above don't spell correctly because i have limited letters on my keyboard . but even if i have all the letters, your computer won't support it anyway .

unlike the other languages in eastern european countries which is based from slavs or latin, hungarian hardly have any connection with other languages, but some people said it is about the same language family with finnish and turkish.

Archie Jones attempted suicide because his wife, Ophelia, a violet-eyed Italian with a faint mustache, had recently divorced him. But he had not spent New Year's morning gagging on the tube of vacuum cleaner because he loved her. It was rather because he had lived with her for so long and had not loved her. Archie's marriage felt like buying a pair of shoes, taking them home, and finding they don't fit. For the sake of appearances, he put up with them. And then, all of a sudden and after thirty years, the shoes picked themselves up and walked out of the house. She left. Thirty years.
