and yesterday, i got these postcards...

one is from
nunuk , when he had vacation in bangkok *a 'gratisan' postcard from his hotel *
the other is from emil in victoria, canada with the picture of the inner harbour at dusk, and the
city's parliament building as the background.

i think it will
take me one hundred years to read one hundred
years of solitude
.

hari jumat minggu lalu, 19 maret...

temen gue1: kenapa lo ga naek pesawat yg malem aja?
gue: pesawat terakhir ke lombok jam setengah lima
temen gue1: ah gue tau. pasti airport di lombok blm ada listrik-nya, jadi semua pesawat udah hrs mendarat sebelum gelap
temen gue2: jangan salah. airport di lombok itu ga pake listrik, tapi pake obor. eksotis gitulah.

ke airport dianter temen gue.
temen gue: berapa lama ke lombok?
gue: 15-20 menit-lah
temen gue: deket gitu. kalo gitu ngapain naik pesawat? berenang aja!

sampe airport. masih santai .
ambil troli, bawa barang, ke tempat check-in. kok tulisannya 'closed'? . tanpa liat jam, gue pikir: ah paling kepagian. masih santai .
ada pengumuman: attention please... attention please... blablabla... is now boarding. masih santai .
liat tiket, kok yg tadi disebutin nomor penerbangan gue???!! mulai panik .
nyamperin tempat check-in yg ada tulisan 'closed'-nya, untung masih bisa, masukin bagasi, ambil boarding pass, langsung lari pontang panting.
bayar airport tax *ugh! gue
gak pernah rela bayar airport tax*. lari pontang panting lagi.

di dlm pesawat gue dapet tempat duduk diantara turis2 ostrali yg
amat sangat ribut. nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu nunggu. tapi kok gak berangkat2?? akhirnya pramugarinya ngasi bocoran: ada pesawat vvip (pesawat kepresidenan) yg mau take off, sebelum mereka take off, gak boleh ada yg ngeduluin *blah* .

kalo aja gue liat

tempat2 yg diserbu org sebelum nyepi:
temen gue: pinjem kameranya dong, gue mau motret
gue: *ngasi kamera*
temen gue: gimana neh cara makenya
gue: pake menu yg judulnya 'beach' aja
temen gue: bitch? kamera elo ada menu 'bitch'-nya?? wah beli dimana? gue juga mau dong
the side-effect of reading under the tuscan sun:
-
hungry *it tells a lot about italian food*
- people who speak italian around me makes me feel different *in kuta you can hear people speaking all kind of
alien languages*
-
dying to see the movie
have you seen this building in kuta?
i found a blog of a friend from elementary school !!!
my head is full of plans
this is my guy
i still have a crime project need to be done
i believe my finger will be purple forever
did i tell you lately that i miss you?

I am about to buy a house in a foreign country. A house with the beautiful name of Bramasole. It is tall, square, and apricot-colored with faded green shutters, ancient tile roof, and an iron balcony on the second level, where ladies might have sat with their fan to watch some spectacle below........... The house rises above a strada bianca, a road white with pebbles, on a terrace slab of hillside cover with fruit and olive trees. Bramasole: from bramare, to yearn for, and sole, sun: something that yearns for the sun, and yes, I do.

tuscany (toscana in italian) is an province in the western part of italy. its major cities are: florence, pisa, siena, lucca, arezzo, and pistoia. florence (firenze in italian) is well-known by its uffizi museum (one of the most famous and admired museums in the world), built in 16th century, where you can find the works from famous artists such as michelangelo, raffael, leonardo, and even rembrandt. it is also said that the renaissance was born here.
the countryside is so famous by its beauty *visit here to see the pictures *. and for sure, it becomes people's favorite place for vacation .

yes, i'm reading under the tuscan sun now.

bay encouraged me to read beauty and sadness. this is not my kind of book : too many descriptions and slow plot. and like usual i always have problem reading the books from nobel prize winner. it's about strange relationship among oki, otoko, keiko, and taichiro. i detested oki at the beginning of the book, after the story went on, i started to like keiko .
next book :the conch bearer by chitra banerjee divakaruni

last night we did nomat for cold mountain *yay! lumayan cepet film ini datengnya utk ukuran pulau gue yg terpencil *. comme d'habitude i didn't enjoy the war scene and other stuff had relation with blood and torture . but the place called cold mountain was beautiful *i always like the places by the mountain*. and after those miseries they had, a little happiness came, but then the ending was still tragic .

hooray! for the treasure i found in the middle of rain last weekend: a second hand bookshop with cheap prices, good condition of imported books, neat books arranged alphabethically, and walking distance from my place. everything was so prefect kecuali mas2 yg ngejualnya centil banget! suka baca buku ya? tinggal dimana? nomor telfonnya berapa? punya pacar ga? aaaaaaaargh!!

last thursday we visited some buildings in completion.
i hated to take pictures of 'unfinished' buildings with messy stuff around, dirty floor, tukangs who were working, streching cables, empty pool, and empty rooms. but then why don't i
let it be? this is the aura of it .

a private residence in jimbaran
from here, you can see the statue of garuda wishnu kencana, and far beyond, you can see the 'neck' of bali (the critical part of the island where you can see the ocean on the west and the east of the island at the same time, it's between the airport and jimbaran)

i'm on mission for watching those dvds.
now, i
ran out of space in my room for those dvds and books.
i'm thinking to
send them to bandung, lombok, timbuktu, or maybe alaska!
or...
just buy
a shelf!!

these are
some of the results from my mission :

watched it last week *hi nunuk , hi sune *
met
sheeta and pazu to find laputa, the floating land among the cloud.
this is
so excellent , so i order all of you to watch it too. but since it is an old movie (made in 1986) probably most of you have seen it and like usual i'm just the one who left behind *snif*
but still, hayao miyazaki and studio ghibli rock!!!
a week just past but laputa's opening
music is still haunting me....

this is a good one too. and i like these parts:
the list!
Thinking.
You're not use to thinking
When you have your first kid at seventeen with the only man you've kissed in your life,
and then another kid when you're noneteen, with the same man,

and you live in a trailer in your Mom's backyard,
and your Dad's been in jail for ten years,
you never have time to think.

Maybe you're so out of practice you've forgotten how.

Things to do before I die:
1. Tell my daughters I love them several times a day
2. Find Dan a new wife who the girls like
3. Record birthday message for the girls for every year until they're 18
4. Go to Whalebay Beach together and have a big picnic
5. Smoke and drink as much as I want
6. Say what I'm thinking
7. Make love with other man to see what it is like
8. MAke someone fall in love with me
9. Go and see Dad in jail
10. Go get some false nails (and do something with my hair)

the part when she came to the guy's house, but he's got no furniture. so they each sat on pile of books
the part when they get into the car to listen to music (blossom dearie).
then she said, "if you don't kiss me right now, i'll scream." he didn't kiss right away and
she screamed *ha!*
the part when she was shopping in a supermarket and she said, "no one ever thinking about death in a supermarket." then everyone start to dance with that same song they listen in the car
the part when the kids in witch costum said, "we just know some normal spells. the ones that turn frog into a car, lizard into airplane."
someone played music with the glasses and different amount of water each inside them
the font for the list, at the beginning, and at the end of the movie!!

a korean animation with beautiful drawings *hi sune * especially the drawings in the fantasi land.
the story from here: The animation tells the story of a boy named Namoo who lives in a seaside village. Several years after the death of his father, Namoo finds himself faced with further
struggles: his grandmother is ill, his mother has a new boyfriend, and his best friend will move to Seoul at the end of the summer. Struggling with the prospect of further loss, Namoo begins to lose himself in fantasy, dreaming of a mysterious girl named Mari who leads him to another world.
